CHAPTER FOURTEEN

FRIDAY 3RD APRIL

Waking up in Seb’s bed isn’t the romantic and relaxing experience one might think when imagining such a scenario. Not only is it a work day, it’s also a training day with Luke, so I have to be back at my apartment and ready to train at six!

There’s no morning sex, no fiddling – the alarm goes off at five twenty and I’ve got to get dressed and get out. Sebastian does get up and out of bed, unnecessarily – but very sweetly, to make himself a coffee and ensure I have everything. Of course he offers me a coffee but I simply don’t have time, nor do I wish to fill myself with a heavy drink before my training session.

“Thanks so much for last night, Sebastian,” I call out from the bedroom as I emerge from his en-suite, having freshened up my face quickly with my emergency kit in my purse. “I really enjoyed everything, and your cooking is fantastic.”

He strolls to the doorway of the bedroom and rests against the frame, his foot crossed over the other and a large mug of steamy coffee in his hand. “You’re so welcome, I really hope we can do it again.”

“That would be great, I’m sorry I’m in such a hurry.”

“No problem, I would really like for you to stay a little longer though, are you sure you can’t miss training, just this once?”

I smile. “Oh no, I’m sorry, I don’t miss training. Also, Luke gets up early, especially – so I don’t want to take advantage.”

“Sure, I understand.”

I’d like to get into conversation, maybe ask about his plans for the day, arrange another meeting, but my mind is set solely on the task of leaving and getting back in time to quickly shower the sex from my body, change into my work out clothes and get to the gym by six.

“Oh shit, I’ve got to call a cab…” I say as I button up my blouse.

“Oh no, I called Frank back – he’s waiting downstairs for you, where you came in. Would you like me to walk with you?”

“Oh no, don’t worry, I can remember the way.”

“You’re sure?”

“Yes, and thank you so much. I automatically assumed I had my car here.”

“That’s fine.”

I collect my bag and run my fingers through my hair as I walk past him to run into the hallway and slip my shoes on. He follows me, his pants sweeping along the floor with his feet, it’s a cosy, comfortable sound, like he’s going to lounge around his apartment all day and relax.

He puts his cup down in the side unit and takes my jacket from the closet by the door, holding it open for me to slip my arms into.

“Thank you, Sebastian.” I open the door and step out. “So, I’ll er… I’ll see you soon, maybe?”

“Hey – come back here,” he says, reaching out for my waist and pulling me back towards the doorframe where he leans. “A kiss good bye?”

I smile. “Sure.
